The Encounter by elftantra The Encounter by elftantra
"The Encounter", Oil on Canvas, 24" x 30", 2013

This painting comprises the sixth image of my academic thesis, "Jātaka Tales of a Budgie-Sattva". " The Encounter" is a self portrait narrating an interaction between budgie-sattvas that is still in suspense. The figure and the bird both reiterate one another's gesture through the spread of their limbs. The parrot approaches with curious free fall while the human remains engaging but respectfully cautious. In many ways this piece speaks of the moment before "breaking the ice" between new attractions; that interstitial moment before a particular relationship forms its karmic character.

"The interstital moment..".That be a great name for a piece, while reading this is saw the word inter-terrestrial. Your ability to evoke keeps refining. I wanted to share my personal affinity to this work. Lately after the failure of both eastern and western medicine proper I have had to spend lots and lots of time doing  All kinds of yoga,Tai-chi,Chi kung, meditation and sound therapy for pain management. Its peaceful but can be rather dull at times. Once in a while something very strange happens. This remind me of a particular situation while doing something called microcosmic orbit where you spin the ball of chi which act at certain moments as a transceiver of heavenly  chi. I got visited by dolphin's who astral projected fully in visible form...They where literally swimming around me while the chi around me thickened like ocean water. They wanted to teach me some dolphin chi.. At that moment It was way to much, i thought ok, if these guys stay here longer then 5 more minutes I am checking myself into a mental ward...I screamed out this is not happening and could you Dolphins please go away!! They did...A year down the line apone further reflection that was a damn dumb thing to do and hope one day they will come back. In the mean time as i study the meridians and mudra's, I have also noticed that when one makes a bird shaped mudra with the hands and put it over the heart, it can give great relief from post traumatic stress, particularly if you flap it wings lightly against the heart and then swoop them up for heavenly chi... Anyhow I see this as freedom from self by interaction of other. The bird eye appears to position itself is at the point of the 2nd third eye 10th chakra. This probably sounds more batshit crazy to myself then you. But the look on this portrait faces of apprehension, love and fear of the unknown graced by possibilities and the yin/yang shadow dividing the face reaching out to that beautiful it awakens something that seldom awakes..Thank you Elftantra for the creation of this bonafide master piece.

Good to see you back on the scene with your bonafide awareness.  Also I think probably you, more than anyone else who's given me feedback, have picked up on the the spiritual significance of this piece.  It is a much more distilled image than much of my other work--an interstice also in effect between my academic process (this was part of my Master's thesis), and the personal transmission of cognitive and psychic being.

It is definitely no coincidence where the bird's head and eye is located, good call.  I really should have you write my descriptions since you have a knack for understanding the subtleties, symbolism, and their relevance.  :)

I want to thank you for reaching back with me so far to the beginning, and for continuing to always seek with authentic intention despite the real challenges of suffering.

I love the dolphin story!  That really is amazing.  As the pranic circuitry awakens and activates into coherence these visions, not to mention incredible miracle type-phenomena, tend to materialize effortlessly.  All the effort is in the fundamental process of maintaining our mindfulness, reducing the aggregate distractions that snag the efficiency of the mind and therefore the currency of the prana, and being present both in the smaller and greater moment, in comprehension.  Lucky for us the visions meet us half way.

Dolphins also feel very good as an archetype.  I have been invested in a long term project of mundane living as part of a revelatory unfolding of a larger extra-personal consciousness in awakening, and so part of the effect of such investment for the past five years has been a sharp reduction in visionary states and other local psychic events.  When they would occur, however, the archetypes that always arrived to me were multi armed hindu godesses...though I am not wholly sure which ones.  Their color was always akin to reddish gold.  They would channel through me and visit in dreamspaces.  Amazing interactions and always quite spontaneous.
